How to Develop a Winning Mindset

Creating a winning mindset to battle against competition demands a strong determination and zeal to conquer. This is what separates world-class performers from everybody else in all spheres of life.

Leaders in different disciplines attest that the best performers sets goals that are based on the process on how to achieve a specific outcome but not the outcome.

At many times individuals focus on the goal without factoring how much it costs to achieve the goal. Successful people, leaders, and other top performers in the world state that their mindset is much more based on the process than the ultimate goal. Achieving a winning mindset is not a one-time thing but it builds over time.

To achieve a winning mindset an individual must factor various aspects of life.

Don’t rely on talent

Steve Canal, marketing guru and author of The mindset of a winner, argues that even though an individual can be good at something he/ she must have a winning mindset which understands the difference between a hobby and a business. The difference between the two is discipline and the hard work a person puts behind it.  A constant winner never relies on talent only but they work to improve their craft, investigate their weaknesses and work on how to conquer them.

Build your Determination

Determination is a combination of passion and perseverance for a unique longtime goal achievement. It is important to have the ability to rebound from adversity and maintain the focus you ought to have to achieve success.  Many people when they face hardships in their lives tend to give up but those who keep their eye on target gets successful eventually. Resilience is a very important asset for those who are determined to win no matter what happens.

Celebrate and move on

It is important to celebrate what you have achieved so far but planning how to achieve more is equally important. Rewards are vital for resetting, reframing and preparing the next move because they set a foundation for the next step. Lessons learned gives a person with a winning mindset an opening to evaluate his/her path based on his/her failures and strength.

Growth mindset

Growth mindset gives a person a chance to allow new ideas to shape his/her mindset but not shift his/her target. Versatility gives an individual opportunity to grow his/her ideas, accept criticism and see challenges as an opportunity for growth.

Generate momentum with small steps

Success is not a one-time thing it demands a process which is painful, hard to crack and full of lessons some of which a person may not like.  A person with a winning mindset plans his journey in small steps because huge steps can be overwhelming for them.

Some tips that I share with my clients to help them create empowered mindsets is to take daily and consistent action. These daily practices may include, focusing on gratitude, writing in a journal, visualizing goals achieved, exercising, following a spiritual path, practicing meditation, deep breathing, and/or yoga.

“Leaders spend 5 percent of their time on the problem & 95 percent of their time on the solution. Get over it & crush it!” Tony Robbins

It is not easy to be a leader but with the right attitude and mindset, anyone can be a leader. Being a strong leader demands discipline and appetite to achieve more in every aspect of life regardless of the situation. Leaders also fail but the manner how they respond to failures differentiates them from the rest of the people.
